I really want to write a story based around the Alien (or Predator) story. But with my limited experience at writing, I don't know how to go about it. Any help for someone like me? Anyplace to start, tips, ideas, etc? Thanks

If you've got an idea for a story, check out how others have laid out their story (particlarly check AlienSlof's) to get the feel for it then just write to your hearts content. Everyone starts somewhere. Cover your arse with a leading statement along the lines of it's you first attempt at writing and you first fanfic. Enjoy yourself.

Also, check out Anise's thread Tippettes for authors for more sound advice. A good way to get your stuff noticed is to try a different take on things, I did that when I chose to do alien first-person viewpoint.

I got a few ideas from the AvP related books but mostly I guess I did what Anise said and read a few of the other writers works. Well all i can do is say best of luck.

Use your brain i bet there a whole load of things floating round up in there. or other wise just chack out how other ppl set out theres. don't be a theif and tax ideas either. not saying you are gonna but thats a scummy thing to do

Yea look at others peoples work, i got some insiration off slof's work, try it it might work for you...

the more you READ, the better writer you will become.

After you've read a few hundred books, many things will come automatically, like punctuation, spelling, terms, etc.

You will see how other writers SHOW their worlds, and then its a question of reasoning by analogy.

Yeh listen to demi, he is a writer by law!! And as he was saying about others SHOWING their worlds, he is right, every writer has their own style, and slof or anise, and not to mention demi are perfect examples of how you should write, but over time you will develop your own style. don't try and write like someone else because your ideas won't come out as good as they could be.
I am only a noob writter as well and if you read my fics it shows, i learnt alot from these guys so listen to them!
