One of the many joys of writing FanFic's are the comments, why does nobody on here Comment?

Fear of having their comments thrown back in their faces. Apathy from watching previous comments ignored. Wondering if anything you say is even read, understood or sparks the slightest interest from the community as a whole. But I would probably have to go with the general feeling of malaise that has permeated the site recently. Maybe it's just a slump.

That it would. But until whatever malignancy that has infected the community works itself out, there probably will be nothing more than the occasional "Good job" from people that you know. I've read some of your work, and I would be happy to share my thoughts with you, but I find the forums to be the wrong place for that. Let me know if you want to hear it, and I'll fill you in on what I think.

IMO people use the comment system abusively. I remember some people writing comments on their own stories to make it sound better than it really is. People also make use of the anonnymity of the system and post abusive comments.
An independent review system would work better, but that's probably a little too ambitious php-wise.

what are u talking about. there are a lot of comments. i have a lot of fun just reading the comments and everything. i post up some in every were. from slof to AQ. i love the comment page. i have improved my own writing with the comments that have shown up on my COAL. and i have also gotten priase from slof after i improved. i think that the comments are one of the better parts of this website group.

I love having praise, its what drives me onwards to writing more or some sequels, but A chestbursters compassion didnt recieve that much praise towards the end, thats why I killed it off.

I can't really give any meaning full coments since I'm personally not all that good with English myself, imagine the blind leading the blind. Well most of the comments i have recieved, not here mind you, are mostly about my spelling.

I comment whenever I read stories--my comments will often refer to spelling, punctuation, etc. Its what draws my attention...

Well, basiclly if people trash talk about your work it would really F**K up your day wouldn it. The un written rule states " If you have nothing go to say dont say anything at all." But me im easy to satisfy i love reading anything on xenos,aliens,and any other name for it. So keep em coming. Ill read em and give you my comments

I almost always leave a comment unless something is so bad I can't find anything positive to say (which thankfully is fairly rare) - I do this as I like to receive comments in return when people have read my stuff. I don't mind good or bad - as long as the bad comments are fairly meant and constructively written, then I have no problem with that. As many of you guys have said, it all helps writers to keep going, constantly improving, gives them the will to continue.

that always happens in all systems. We've experienced some avid self-promoters in our short history, but sooner or later they either get bored or move on...
