I seriously doubt you will be able to PUBLISH an Alien, Aliens, AvP or Pred story.

Many b4 u have tried and failed.

Publishing on your own means your ass is grass to the legal honchos who OWN the brand.

No company will talk to you about SOMEONE ELSE'S universe either.

Indeed, Demi is quite right. Someone tried approaching Fox with my stuff and they got nowhere. If you really want to try and get anything published, make your own world, with your own creatures, etc. The Aliens and Predator stuff is heavily licensed.

The only people who can & do publish Alien/Aliens/AvP/Predator stuff are DarkHorse.

So, if you write to them and they say "no", then it's all over.

In fact I ALSO appoached BOTH Fox and the licence-holders in the UK.

Ok, since you all decided not to listen and post any way here is an answer for you.
I will not say anything bad about what I have read and what you all write. I will say the most basic reason is that either you use characters that already exist, thus that would be called a Fan fic. Not an original work. OR you move the original creature in a direction that would not be feasible Or in a direction that the liscense holders would ever want their creations to go.
And lastly, although it is very very very enjoyable. Quite a few of you write about the Aliens and Predators having sex. You are humanizing them and in order for something to be scary, and be a bit unknown you cannot humanize them.
So although that is a natural thing for them to do, the people who have created them and the few books that are out on them do not, and will not have their creations doing quite a few of the things that are written and posted on this website.

Just as an aside, I am friends and aquaintances with a few published authors and have access to the industry in ways most may not think of. The way I write and the way I use the known facts of the creatures and things in my story are unique, based on the original written and drawn history of them that is approved. And the characterization I use also goes along with the industry standard.
If I do get published I will give a big thank you to all who are here.

I think you need to get off your high horse - we choose to take a different angle on things because just maybe we are tired of the same old formula and wish to explore the universe in another way. Yes we are fanfic writers, that is what we enjoy doing, most of us write for our own enjoyment.

Just ever so often someone does something different, and it becomes popular because of that. Other things spring from that. I know I am bored of same old, same old.

I was quite offended by your attitude - I don't know about the other writers on here.

The aim of GameStory.Net was to give people the chance to write and show their work.

It is a reflection of the writer, in a way, as to where he/she wants for the story to go. They do not have FOX or DarkHorse telling them to stay within sertain bounds, and thats why the stories are so 'diverse'. That is one of the reasons GameStory.Net is so sucessfull.

If you want to you want to stay within the typical bondries of the genre, that is your right as a writer.

We are simply trying to tell you, that with in this "Universe ", it is nearly impossible to get your work published. You can try, and I'm sure there are a few people here that can even point you in the right direction. But you simply cannot assum that because you have a good story it will get taken up by a publisher (in this case one).

Prezes is right, GameStory is successful because it lets others showcase what they have written to everyone else. There are no boundries that need to be followed or anything. Just because you know people who are in the buisness, does not mean they have the power to publish your story. This is a registered trademark by FOX, I do not think they would let you publish it. You would need a exceptional story for it to even be considered for publishing for Darkhorse. It also cannot be too short or anything like that.

Another thing is the fact that this goal may seem obtainable to you, but do not let that blind you. To accomplish a goal (especially one like this) it will take alot of hard work. You cannot just write maybe a 10-40 page story and want it to be published as a book. It has to be somewhere in the hundreds of pages to also be considered. It would help to have a recommendation by someone about your work.

So ends my little rant of wisdom.

Gamestory and other sites related to this one are for people with imagination, who mainly just get tired with the same old thing. Human good, Alien bad, Predator inbetween.

But maybe, after who knows how long of IRRATATING THE CRAP out of Fox, Darkhorse and others, they just might give in. Or else someone from fox or someplace will get tired of the same old bit and try to create something new.

If something like this does happen, I'll be happy, but if not, well, there's always the next day to wait and see, and in the mean time of waiting, I'll be sitting my butt down and working on some of my original work to publish.

I left out an important part of my reply so perhaps it will clarify something for you.
The possible reasoning as to why manuscripts and ideas were turned down. This is only speculation but it is sound reasoning.
As I stated in my previous post and not demeaning anyone or putting down the wonderful writing that is posted. The possible reason why submitted works from writers who also post on this site MAY have been turned down is the humanizing of them. Giving them human-like emotions, having them do human like things.
I am not on a high horse, although I do own a horse, he is rather small as horses go.
I was simply writing a post in reply to the people who said I could not get something published, because they could not.
I thouroughly enjoy reading the fan fic and original work that is posted here.
The only reason I pulled the material is so there is no conflict of interest. I will give it the old school try and see what happens.
I appreciate everyone's differences of opinion, and how they speak their own minds. I can understand something stagnating and the need for change.
But with the new movie coming out, both Dark horse and the book publishers will be seeking new material, so I may have a shot.
And Dark horse will almost publish anything. You have read the mini cross overs haven't you? Batman, Tarzan, Superman, & I think Terminator : all vs Alien OR Predator. As well as the spin offs. Those are not exceptional, but they pad a comic book.
My story is not a 40 page dissertation or report. It is a book, I only write books. And I can possibly get the reccomendation of a few very well known writers. Some I know personally as I have stated before. I also know personally and closely RPG writers and several comic artists, Of whom do and have worked in the industry.
I may end up selling my story to a better known writer just to see it in print. But we shall see.

as so that i do not add anything to this argument all i have to say is that Da'yeyinde is a very tallented writer and has a better chance then atleast i do at getting published. u other people can choose to think that ur writing is good anough to be published. im not going to say that anybodies works arent good anough to be published. that would be rude and imature on my part.

although i must say. i sure will miss the story. and it was a bloody good fic also. it was one of the best if not the best on GS. but hey every author has the option to go for the gold and try to get their work published. in my oppinion every author on gs likes to say that they only write for fun. but deep down in their hearts i think that all authors want their works to be published. im not saying that we dont write for fun. i mean why would we write at all if it didnt bring us amusement. but im saying that deep down all of us (in my oppinion) want our fics to published. feel free all of u to flame me and call me stupid or something. if u think i am wrong then tell me. but if u think i am wrong make sure that u ask ur self if u want ur fics to published.

Yes, good luck to you. I imagine every writer (including myself) have, or had at some time, the interest of getting our works published. Getting there is a feat, I've tried a couple rounds of this and gave up. A little easily I might add. I hope your works get published and you'll be able to make a name for yourself in the industry.
