I like the types of games on consoles a lot better. Upgradability and better graphics are nothing if I don't like the games that much.

halo was used as a "prime" example of Xbox gaming power, but then the new Need For Speed Hot Pursuit game is a console port and it SUX on a PC...
The OC version of Halo will pass without too much notice.

BTW: is Breed the same as halo?? It looks like it...

hey cat let me tell you were i got my info. right from popular science and from the makers of the different systems. game cube has more good games then XBOX i will admit that. but first off i have played metroid prime and the other metriod. the levels are small and so are the rooms. there are no open spaces like in halo and thats were the graphics are totally outnumbered. the reason there is very low load time is becuase the rooms are small anough that the next area can quickly load when you are a couple of rooms away. Halo does that slightly and thats only for the AI bots. but please XBOX and PS2 are way better then cube. PS2 is reaching its prime in a year and then the cube might surpass it maybe. but please Halo was a test of how good the graphics could be made well having a very low engine for it. they have one of the lowest out there. it was a test that surpassed all odds. Halo2 and possibly 3 if they make it will maybe get to the tip of the ice berg of XBOX. please dont insult XBOX by even comparing it to Cube. i will admit though that cubes graphics will later on get as good as Halo but that will be at its prime. dont challange the facts from nintendo its self, microsoft, and popular science. im sorry here but i will even say this. my pentium 2 proccessor computer is so much better then all the systems out so far.

I got my info from a variety of video game websites. I am not going to contest that XBOX has better graphics than gamecube, but PS2 definitely doesn't. I get popsci, and I generally like it, but this article is only the most basic analysis and cursory look at the consoles. Not sure if that was the article you meant or not.

Lets look at some quotes comparing various multiplatform games so far:

IGN X-Men: Next Dimension Head-to-Head for graphics:
"As one would expect, the PlayStation 2 version is noticeably worse than either the Xbox or GameCube versions"
(incedently gamecube was rated as having the best graphics for this game)

IGN: James Bond 007: NightFire Head-to-Head graphics:
"Fortunately, the GameCube and Xbox versions look and perform much better than the PS2 iteration."
(gamecube and XBOX tied for this one)

IGN: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Head-to-Head Graphics:
"As the lead platform, you'd expect it to be a pretty solid effort through-and-through. Unfortunately, that's not entirely the case. As stated, it looks great, but it doesn't run at 60 frames per second. It runs at 30 and with plenty of dithering to boot; this is that notorious screen-door effect seen so often in the past. It's often used to cover up shimmering effects, which the PS2 is definitely not a stranger too. "
(gamecube came out ahead here too)

"Normally in these head-to-head comparisons, the Xbox is the champion of graphics. But this time, the nod has to go to the GameCube. "

"That said, it should be no surprise that the Xbox and GameCube versions do look superior to the PS2 version. The later systems quite clearly have the superior graphics hardware, so there should be no surprise when they exceed the appearance of the PS2."

Over and over again, gamecube and XBOX are similar, but PS2 has the worst power. I also didn't purposefully select games that showed off gamecube's abilities, I picked the first few in the order they appeared on the screen. Of course there are exceptions to the rule that gamecube has better graphics to PS2, just like there are exceptions to the general rule that XBOX has better graphics than gamecube.

Here is an unbiased analysis of the gamecube, with comparisons to the other 2 consoles. Most of it is too technical for me, but the final word section basically sums everything up (this is from right around the launch):

"Both the GameCube and Xbox are clearly superior to the PS2 in terms of the quality of the graphics seen in games available today. The transition from PS2 to GameCube and/or Xbox is a fairly large leap, but going between GameCube and Xbox is a bit less dramatic. "

alright i admit that PS2 sucks sorry. and that i exagerated a little about gamecube being really bad compared to XBOX. but here is the thing and i hope u agree with me is that XBOX is the best out of the 3 and is above gamecube and light years ahead of PS2. Game cube is just not going to be as good as XBOX sorry. i admit that the two may be near eachother now but these gamse on XBOX are mostly teasers on what is to come. the halo2 will have a much faster engine and much better graphics then anything else out there. please agree with me here. also that was the same article although the one in the magazine its self had a comparison graph and now that i have looked at it you are right PS2 is worse. but XBOX is better than all the systems out there. but game cube has a lot more better games. but halo is still the best out there. i have night fire and i still like halo better.

if you dont beleive me on the halo2 not even reaching the tip of the ice berg look at www.bungie.com it will tell you all you need to know and more. if you have a fast anough computer you can download a trailor to halo2 also. it is awsome. watch it 2 times if you can becuase it gets clearer the second time. or atleast it should.

I'll agree with you on that, XBOX does have the best graphics, I feel that is rather well established by this point.

Never heard of it. Somewhat unlikely (not impossible) in my opinion though, simply because microsoft has a vested interest in seeing the PC market do well, so I doubt they would want to hurt PC sales by offering people a much less expensive PC alternative. Of course, I would of said the same thing about nintendo releasing a gameboy player for the gamecube a few months ago, but they are doing it anyway. So I very well could be wrong.

popular science magazine and popular mechanics focus on new technology and mechanical things and how they work. its were a lot of gaming info comes from also. but if you think about it does microsoft actually build computers. no. by adding the computer game thing, if it can, would help them becuase then a lot of games would be played on there system which they could do what they usually do and make it so that only there computer games can play. and has anybody herd any updates on halo2

There is really no way to define "best." In the end its the games that decide which console is best, and since different people like different games, then different people have a different "best" console. Gamecube is my "best" console because it has the games I like. I suppose XBOX is your "best" console because it has the games (or game) you like.

AND THA GRAPHICS. ya can't for get that. its what makes the xbox so good
