Thank you for "The Golden Paradox". It is a great story,
I had a nice time reading it. Hopefully, next chapters will come soon
The story itself reminds me Star Trek series and Babylon 5
but in Unreal universe. It was nice to recognize some episodes
I've played in Unreal before. Of course I remember Lord Jhize, fignting against
his hologram wasn't a piece of cake
)) But my favourite character is
Cortax. He is a strong spirit and jentle heart; I even think of
making a short story about him, about he realizes how much Nasarian he is.
Another nice character is Avalee, she reminds me one female
martial arts teacher whom I was lucky to know. And I shouldn't forget
Desomah
I have more comments about "The Golden Paradox", also a little bit of critics.
I can send them by email if you like. Sorry for my English -- my native
language is Russian (I am one of a few Russians who write UnrealUT
fanfiction).
Good luck!
And thank you guys for the great web site!

Ladyvoltron, I think you'll need to send an e-mail to Prezes, or something. The contents of your post didn't show up, even though the thread you started did, and you're listed as having the last post here. Sending an e-mail to Prezes is actually why I don't have this problem anymore.
Anyway, I saw your message when I went to reply, and I appreciate the feedback very much. I'm also impressed to hear that there are Russians who have played Hexephet and Xerania 2.
As I came up with these characters, I tried to make them with traits representing their own races, while still giving them a few differences from what people might expect.
For example: have you heard of a television program called Stargate SG-1? I tried to make the Saan Ja'val in my story very similar in nature to how the Tok'ra of that show act. They are Skaarj, and yet they're not.
I'd be glad to hear more from you about my work here. Feedback and advice are always appreciated by me, especially since they are so rare. I'll take any such steps to improve my writing ability. If it doesn't show up in my profile, my e-mail address is harmonicbow@yahoo.com. I may even provide you with a few spoilers, if you like (such as plot ideas that I'm thinking of working into later chapters). And if you decide to base any fan fiction of your own on my story, I'd be glad to continue writing in such a way that it all fits together well.

weird--in \"reply to post\" I see her posts clearly.
hmmm...more work to Prezes. Unless I messed something up last night...........nah, its gotta be Prezes
.
I agree with ladyvoltron--the trick to writing good Unreal stories is to sometimes return to the ACTUAL games, so that gamerzs can immediately identify known areas [levels, names, characters, etc]. It boosts depth immensely.
re: Techno_JF\'s email...it could so easily be techno_jf@gamestory.net if only the lazy bugger would want to help us in promoting the Unreal aspect of GS to the outside Unreal community...

Demi: I'm working on it. Since I expect to be on a 56k modem for the rest of this year and most of the next, I don't have much time that I can spend online. Also, as tips writer for UnrealSP.org, I've been busy working to get Operation: Na Pali done sometime soon. I only have information up to the Fire God Temple so far, which leaves about 15 more maps to go.
I'll put a few notes in my various forum signatures, and I'll mirror Unreal-themed news from AGN to go up on UnrealSP.org. I'll also try to convince a few of my writer-friends to mirror their work here.

Well, I've also experienced some problems with creating a thread and posting a message; after I haven't seen my message I posted it again and today I see both my posts. I am afraid it has to do something with the forum php script.
I am not the only Russian who played these two and other single-play add-ons for Unreal. Russian Unreal-community is quite big, but only a few people write Unreal-related fanfiction. Most of the people prefer map making
Amateur authors rarely have a lot of feedback (unless they have a good promoter
; I was a bit lucky being published on one of the main Russian literature web sites), so I will do my best giving you a feedback, because I really like your story. However, not all my comments should be taken seriously, for my view on Unreal universe is drastically different than of most of the people who published their fanfic on this site.
I agree with the_demigod, it is aalways nice to refer on existing levels and map packs (release of Operation Na Pali caused me to rewrite a couple of chapters in one of my stories
. But the main in Unreal fanfiction, I believe, is to express the essense of the Unreal world, its unique atmosphere, something which makes Unreal so different from other games.
Ok, I'll start commenting "The Golden Paradox" in series of emails, chapter by chapter, probably starting at Wednesday, because tomorrow evening I have martial art classes. Hopefully, my comments will be useful inspite of mistakes in English which I probably do

Fantastic story! It is a little weird somtimes but I does support the plot. Fantastic job. It definitly needs finished. Personally I don't mind getting "in depth" but I hate It when it conflicts with another writer's storyline or games. Oh and you just have to put human vs skaarj and lots of gore and weapons and I'll pe interested, really. Whats with that freekin frag meat thing thats really insulting.
