I'm not the best reviewer there is but still felt I should share what the book is like for all those who haven't bought it yet.

AVP: Alien vs. Predator

Novelization by Marc Cerasin

Based on the motion picture screenplay by Paul W.S. Anderson and Shane Salerno

Story by Paul W.S. Anderson

Based on the "Alien" characters by Dan 'Bannon and Ron Shusett
and the "Predator" characters by
John Thomas and James Thomas

"The battle is about to begin--and to the victor will go the earth."

This book is action-packed with a nice, evenly balanced sense of humor, having high tech gear and gizmos, with human and alien relics that kept me tagged throughout each chapter.
The characters are well written. Strongly showing their personalities and backgrounds to the point where it will make you crack a smile and keep reading.
Having a new, different side to the Predators - their environment and technology as well as how the Aliens operate.
Though what struck me in awe was the book's uncanny resemblance to the first AvP book, Alien vs. Predator: Prey. I was flabbergasted when coming across the "resemblance" part that lead to the books ending. Though AVP: Alien vs. Predator, then Alien vs. Predator: Prey, holds more of a down to earth, humorous atmosphere between woman and Predator. Oops. Did I say that?
Tragically. The downside of the book are two problems that drastically declined its atmosphere after I was just beginning to enjoy it. The Predator's blooding ritual is completely switched around and the scenes toward the end just seemed to fly by then how the remains of the book plot were set.
Of a ratio between one and five, I give this book a solid and well earned four.

Below are some pictures I scanned from the book, most of you may have already seen them.

im not impressed by the book
these people have no idea what they are talking about or writing about.

paul anderson should fear for his life if he messes this thing up.

i mean seriously
****SPOILER ALERT******

in the book they mention LED's for the pred wrist mounts. HELLO!!!

LED=Light Emitting Diode.

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT!!! The yautja use LEDs. HAHHAHAHHAHAH

Second. Wrist blades melting and breaking in fights with xenos. HELLO
dont you think the yautja could have acid proof gear after so long. especially after they already use parts of the aliens for acid proof gear.

third. THIS IS A TOTAL RIP OFF OF AVP PREY as blackdawn said.

WAIT NO!!! im mistaken. THIS IS A BAD RIP OFF OF AVP PREY.

thats all for now. im just too pissed to go on.

I am near total agreement with ALNS.
After talking to him, I went out and bought the book and Chronicles of Riddick at the same time.

It is a bad ripoff of AvP Prey.

There are some great scenes in the book, and they manage to keep it interesting. But there are some major fau paux's in it, and you don't have a lot of sympathy for the humans. You find your self hoping to get past the dialogue so you can go back to the more interesting parts of aliens fighting the yautja.

I am sending my copy to Mar so he can give it a read as well.

*************SPOILER ALERT!!*****************************

In the book as the survivors make their way towards the exit.. they are chased by HUNDREDS of Aliens.

Hundreds????!!!!! And where were they hiding?? or where were they in cryo sleep???
The book makes it very clear that the queen is kept, when not in use in a type of chiro chamber.. wouldn't her children starve???? Only about a dozen people go into the hole,, the people on the sea going ship are never attacked.
So where do the hundreds come from??? The face hugger implants (usually) one baby to incubate per human.

Reminds me of a funny line from a movie, my friends love to quote.

"I'm not an alien, I might ram my oviposter down your throat and lay eggs... but I am not an alien!"

I give the book a thumbs down.
But I know the movie will be good, if we can just edit out those pesky dialogue scenes.

The reason I gave this book a four was it was nicely done in the beginning; with the humans, who they were, the humor, how all the hight techs gizmos and stuff was explained, and just when they entered the temple, I really enjoyed those parts. But afterwards, it went all down hill from there.
Yeah, it was action-packed: Slashing and hacking. But that was it, Prey, on the other hand slowly glides it's way through the alien attacks to where they enter the Lector which takes some more time before reaching the escape pods and there was still a nice, LONG epilogue at the end.
THIS IS THE FIRST AVP BOOK I HAVE READ WHERE I ENJOY READING THE PARTS WITH THE HUMANS THEN ALIENS AND PREDATORS DUKING IT OUT, AND I'M A PREDATOR NUT!

Hey whats all this, you guys have waited for this movie for a long time and now some of you want to kill the guy ho made it?? Even if it is an rip off its better than nothing, everybody has waited to see how aliens and yautja finali meet in one movie. After Predator 2 was shown!!!! So i take it to calm down and give the movie a shot. After its seen then everybody should complaine if it was that bad. And can wait for Alien5 to come out.......when it comes!?

Well, what you expect from the old school/hard kore fans? If you know how to speak a science fictional character's language or know the anatomy of an alien so on and so on, you're a big fan and do not want to be dissapointed one bit.
Yeah, I'll put up with this movie if it turns out to be bad because it is the AvP movie, Aliens and Predators, but praying to god it's not as bad as the book.
