Who here likes to listen to some THRASH when on a frag-fest?
Doesn't matter what game.

Awesome! Word!

It get you into the "zone". But when you get into the game you don't really listen to the music as do you merely sense the beat.

Example: Intense Team Deathmatch + Listening to Speed Metal= good. (in my opinon)
Intense Team Deathmatch + Slow music with slow beat= bad (opinon)

Negative. I can't say I have. Though I have played Unreal Tournament for PS2.

Anytime I'm playin a war game, I crank up the tunes.
How 'bout you? Aint nothing like storming an MG.42pit on Call Of Duty with Metallica: One roarin loud

occasionally orchestra music is just right for me also.
it can get me motivated yet calm. a deadly calm that brings sniper accuracy and slows everything down to me. better aim. better driving. better killing.

I totally agree. For precision marksmanship, you do need to slow your hear rate down.

However, when stormin the Beaches of Normandy, some hardcore music (As I Lay Dying) is necessary as the beat goes with the number of bullets being fired at you.

When on a real fragfest playing a game with the speed of UT, rock/metal is necessary, it' so damn good.

But some real classic/march music is good. And The Red Army Choir is excellent in what ALNS described, just try the Red October Hymn.

It's kinda like on 'Apocalypse Now' when the Air Cavalry plays "The Ride of the Valkryes" loud on the speakers mounted to the Hueys when raiding a village full of VC.

I like the mixed classical songs on COMMAND&CONQUER: RED ALERT. It brings the 'Great War' feeling into it.

At the nearby Military Surplus store the guy who runs the place always has some sort of European Classical playing.

Funny. I'll use any kind of music. I never listen to the music, its really only there to block out all other sounds. I'll play with elevator music if I feel like it. Only thing that doesn't work for me is rap, and that's because its usually too off-beat for me to ignore it.

I'm into trance/techno--very helpful when killing dudes online.

One game which I NEVER touch is Unreal [the original] its soundtrack is simply HEAVENLY. Even had installed ModPlug to listen to the Unreal sound files when NOT playing the game.

@Azeroth
Can you guess what Rap rymes with? Here's a hint, it's brown and it stinks.

@demi
How does trance/techno help you get into the killing mood? The only way I can guess would be from the beat of the music, but other than that is beyond me.

I can see how Speed Metal works because the double bass drums and the vocals screaming and grunting "..DEATH..." or "WE"RE F*CKING HOSTILE!!" five times every other verse, with the guitars blaring. Thats just my philosphy.

But still tell more your reasoning and interest of how techno and trance work for you Demi.

Rap=crap thats too true

I listen to Metalica, AC.DC, and any other hard rock, never death metal because I can't stand not knowing what the hell the guy is saying .

I found that steath games go better if you listen to the actual Die another day bond them, It makes me feel like I realy am a secret agent.

Frag fests, all fast beats, and for tactical games, I listen to the original C&C red alert theam song: Hell march.
