We've all encountered them in one game or another. In some games, they're almost as low as cheaters and spawn killers. In other games however, camping is not only okay, but often a tactic used by better players. For example, campers in games like Quake, the Unreals and the AvP's usually wait around places where item regenerate and never really do much else. THIS is the camper despised by many. Now in something like SOCOM there are no item popups. You get what you go in with and that's it, unless you find something on a corpse of course. In that kind of environment camping isn't the item gluttony it is in the frag-fest games,it's waiting in ambush and/or sniping.

Camping: I don't really mind it, so long as its a human or alien camping. When I do play as marine, I hate camped preds. Waste so much ammo shooting at the sniping spots to try to find out where they are. At least the noobs just fire like crazy so you can see where the psears are coming from .

Hahaha thats rich, I am a hardcore gamer and I've never BEEN camped. I never give them a chance but I do it often to other players Oh yeah and I'm not either frag meat like the thing says I'm a seasoned experienced player. (Whats with that?)

So do you mean you're one of those guys who never strays far from where pick-ups like ammo or health regenerate? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! There's nothing more frustrating than going on dying sprees of getting fragged, spawning with what is usually nothing more than a pea-shooter, and geting fragged again and again because you can't get your hands on a ****** gun! I'm not condeming camping or anything like that. it's a tactic anyone's free to use. I just don't find it to be any fun being in the same place. I like to run around. Yes my zeal to run and gun often does nothing more than add to someone else's kill stats, but I'm having fun and that's what any games about isn't it?

I usually despise camping, but AvP2 is an excpetion. I play best with a light or heavy Predator, and, well, if you see a marine somewhere and he hasn't detected YOU yet, why not freeze ? I mean, those motion trackers ain't there for nothin Mostly I move though, looking for targets. ALWAYS just sitting in some corner stinks, it's no fun.
In ALL other egoshooters I know of I hate campers with all my spark and do my very worst to slaughter them like the vermin they are.

whooo e that got a lot of criticizm. I run around quite a bit but I try not to die often enough to be camped. I'm a sniper by trade and duty. (IE delta force is one of my fav games.) sitting up somewhere reasonably safe and blowing peeplz hedz off is the best.

Again we see someone who is not very informed on the rules of "camping." (not you preliator) If you are running up behind a marine and they start to turn around looking for a signal and you freeze, its not camping. Camping is when you sit in excacty one spot, do not move, and snipe or try to get frags while sitting still.
Now I'm going to move my post in another direction: Spawn killing. These nebs and uninformed people jjust piss me off, and I'm not talking about the noobs who span kill. I'm talking about the ones who spawn, walk around for 10 secs, take out a gun and start shooting, and then when you kill them they say "spawn killer". THEN they take out smartgun or disc or some cheap weapon, and say "You forced me to do this."

This situation seems to be happening more often .

Ok, I think there's been a misunderstaning. There's a BIG difference between playing as a sniper; looking for vantage points, being patient, having a good eye, good aim... and sitting in a room no more than a second or two away from where the R.P.G. pick-up regenerates. So to Spirit of Spi'ell'nei 's example of being a Pred and using your shift-suit to hunt, or to Preliator's example of taking a sniper rifle to a nice high point, you're snipers not campers!

Not necessarily. when I set up I don't set where the regen will be (God that would be stupid) where everyone would eventually pass that spot and I would be in scope and . . . well u know. I set up where no one can see me or where the level is usually most populated. Spawn points. I'll sit there and leave a pile of dead bodies and heads the second the person shimmers into existence boom, off with their head In serious matches this gives u kills and it keeps them off your back. It's almost the only way I can hold my own in "super" matches with players that have had the game since it came out. I do not say Its good for I was in one of those and got camped yesterday. (ha i got the @$$hole) it pisses me off and makes the game that much more fun! bottom line U dont wanna get camped dont die.

Ah, God! Don't talk to me about spawn killers! I gave up playing AvP2 on line because I got sick of dying 10 times in a row before I'd even managed to THINK about halfheartedly shuffling a foot forward. Then there's the team killers that think it's a wild idea to go around and anihilate their team mates. Gah!

Me runs around in circles screaming.

I think the team killing has gone down a lot, and the spawn killing to . But theres still those idiots..... AHHHHHHHH I HATE THEM!

Theirs a BIG difference between camping next to an ammo box, or weapons cache and camping next to a spwan point. I don't mind the camping next to ammo boxes, but the sk's drive me up the fing wall. It is so annoying for them to sit there shoot you and call it " skill " saying you should be faster to take out your weapon. They should be dragged into the middle of the street and shot or castrated.

I too seem to be having this problem more and more often, The more experienced players I play the more I find out SKs piss me off. (I havn't played AvP multi. I took up UT) Thing is as soon as I find out where they are I can usuall kill them in three or four spawns unless they run. And YES it does PISS ME OFF. But I play better when angry. after I find a camper I usually go out of my way to kill them. ( And take their place!

Ahhhhhh, Spawn Killers... I've been playing a little AvP2 multi-player and it's the Sk's that are driving me up the wall. Sometimes it happens so quick I haven't even finished spawning and some gimp-wad makes a cheap kill.

It seems that Americs Army servers have a code that changes all accusations of "camping" into "using tactics"

When I play as an Alien (almost every time) I never camp, unless it is to destroy a weapons crate. I run run run as fast as I can, and god help anyone in my way!

Pretty hard for aliens to camp anyway.
