The die hard sci-fi series that could have almost have been "Aliens: The series"

It was clearly as chilling, exciting and action packed as the film, even though the aliens they faced were more human-like and they mostly fought in space (although there were ground ops too)

goddamn the thing rocked...

Great idea!

Great locations!

Great aliens!

What more could you want?

[Some grey cells bewteen the ears for the American viewers]

The second series got cancelled because the American viewers could not understand (?????) the storyline.

There is nothing difficult about it. Some aliens, they're bad, kill them, humans must survive...

the Chigs were obvious Pred ripoffs but nice...

Wildcards huh.... which reminds me Prezes and me were advocating for most of the 'Cards for starring in the AvP movie....

Ha - the company where I work at dubbed the entire series! It was a real pleasure to watch each episode in the original version (I know, with my profession, I probably shouldn't say that, but still...)

Oh my, just why is it that nothing that has no 'Star Trek' in its titel (except for Babylon 5 of course, which, to me, is the best SF series ever done!) doesn't get a second chance? This entire Space Marines thingy reminded me SO much of ALIENS!! (even down to the design)...

:x

Did y'all ever see the computer animated series of "Starship Troopers"? Man, if they could make THAT, then why couldn't they make an Alien series? And if Aliens is too graphic, they could just put it out late at night and on cable like 'Spawn' does!

any chance you had it in digital format??

the problem with the starship troopers cartoon was that there was very little actual violence. It also felt very chunky and because it was shown on something like fox kids... was almost childish....

To the Demigod: Nope, unfortunately it was good old-fashioned VHS... even with the

timecode in the picture. Sounds sucky, huh?

But the timecode is always a great test - if

the movie or episode is good, you forget about

it one minute after the start, if not, you see it the entire time.

It's been a looooong time since I saw them, so the titles escape me right now, but I liked the one where they had to decide whether they should abandon their shipload of tanks, and Hawkes (? ) fights for them.

I know there were others I liked very much, too (like that 'Chiggy von Richthofen' one), but I remember most of them only very dimly.

I can only keep jabbing my cynical barb - "I got it on video, I got it on video....."

What did you think about the first pilot episode?? where that colony gets kiled??? I found it weak.

The one with the lone pilot who, at the end played that music as he went into the black hole was the greatest, i nearly actually cried it was that effective... and the one with hawkes(i think) on the planet... there was hardly any speech in that entire episode...

bizarrely i liked the last episode, it was a good way to end it, instead of sending them home. I would have given up that episode if it had meant we could have had a new series though

the one with the mad colonel was "Pancackes" I love it. the beginning is good when he "trains" the Wildcards on the Saratoga and 'kills' them all....

Pancakes... yeah, i remember it all now... god that episode was EXTREMELY good.. but really sad at the end. That was possibly the most dramatic ending I think i've ever seen in a TV show...
