Okay, since I'm stranded away from civilisation and all movies I CAN get are either a decade late or... "otherwise appropriated" [thank God for IT students at my Uni!!], so I thought that a LIST of scifi movies would be nice.

That way we'd all KNOW what we've YET got to watch...

The League Of Extraordinary Gentilmen - I hear it's bad
Underworld - Really Cool

Titan AE-very good, but animated if you have a problem with that
Tremors-great, very funny
Close encounters of the third kind-a classic
Abyss SPECIAL EDITION-they completely changed the ending for the theatrical release, they eliminated the whole point of the movie and some pretty incredible scenes. Abyss is another classic
Jurassic Park-Great movie, can't compare with the book at all but if you ignore the book its a great moive.

Some underappreciated movies:

SUPERNOVA. Medical rescue vessel goes out to answer a rescue call from a guy that shouldnt exist to a moon thats long-abandoned. They find something...

EQUILIBRIUM [Fareheit 451 meets 1984 meets...etc] Coolest scenes of guns being used in combat like swords, brainwashing, etc.

MOON 44 [veeeery old]. Multi-stellar conglomerates fight for domination in deep space by hijacking entirre mining vessels and destroying mining moons. Bunch of prisoners get an offer "defend and live, or else...."

other than that:

EVENT HORIZON, the utlimate scary movie. BIIIIG ship goes out, comes back carrying something. Rescue dudes rush to the rescue...then they themselves need rescuing.

DEEP RISING. Bunch of pirates go out to take control of a cruiseliner that seems to be EMPTY. As it turns out, there IS a passenger onboard. mucho death.

SPHERE. Crichton does it again. Cable-laying vessel comes across something that...shouldn't be there. A ship from the future, buried soooo deep it had to have landed...in the PAST. The investigating team start dying.
