I'm not a racist but said a word or two when I first saw Halle Berry was playing the role of Catwoman.
Halle Berry is the african-american who played as a criminal psychologist in Gothika, don't remember her characters name.
This is like saying the movie industry wanted to make The Hulk red.
If people are complaining that there are not enough black folk playing roles from old school classics and comics, that it's racist, make new black super heros and characters today, with a good role and plot twist, so they'll be classics for the next generation.
This is what they're doing in the AvP movie. A black chic is the main character, and I guarentee her character will be a classic in the next generation. Which is also what was done in Predator 2 by having Danny Glover, Lieutenant Harrigan, star in it.
Just don't fool around with our classics, leave them be.
Anyone who has their own thoughts on this or from something else the movies screwed up, post it. Let others know how you feel about the movie industry doing stupid moves like this.

This is a very perticular issue.

There is no point in beating about the bush, African people have been discriminated against for along time. When most of the classic (and now the most popular) comic book heros were invented segregation still existed.

Therefore it is rather hard to have any established "black" comic book hero, if wide spread racism existed in the US untill quite recently (and in some part still exists, not just the US).

Racial equality issues, are a rather complicated area. Something I personally try to stay away from. With out legal requirements, the small minded minority that still exists, would get away with discrimination. However, legal ligislations mean positive discrimination, which in a way is racism.

White people are being discriminated against, to allow minorities to achieve sertain goals easier (this does not apply just to the African/Carabean people, but any minority). We could be here for another 100 years discussing if positive discrimination is good, and the pro's & con's for it.

Personally, I do not like the need to point out someones skin colour or their ethnic origin. If some one is good at something (or not), what does their ethnic background got to do with it?

Hale Berry, is a very good actress. And as a bloke, it has not passed me that she is very attractive. I simply do not see why her skin colour would give her or forbid here from playing any role. I can only hope, that the casting director did not hire Ms. Berry because of her skin colour.

People like that do not help cause for eradicating racism. They are simply being racist to white people.

I'm okay if they're trying to do this inter racial thing. Fine by me. I treat and respect people by their attitude, not skin color. But there are some things certain people can do and some that cannot, depending on their background and how expireinced they are. Which I say is the same with what I just mentioned, comic book characters and other classical movie characters should stay the same.
I wouldn't know what to think if they made a He-Man movie now and the guy was black. I would be thinking, Whoa! He-Man got himself some tan while he's been gone.
And yes, Halle Berry is so pretty I just love her hair and will still watch the movie when it comes out on DVD.

I do think racisim is bullsh*t, however the "NEGRO" (African is not correct, no matter what anybody says) American community and culture can shut up about their "Slavery" and "discrimination" this and thats. They want Slavery....the f*cking Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians for Thousands of years, and they had it worse. They want "discrimination", the followers of Christ went through hell and back.

From what I can see, the Negro Community is in a gigantic void of failure. I'm from Texas, there are plenty of opportunity for those people to make a living and they simply don't do it. All they do is reproduce and make themselves deeper into poverty. They blame their failures on other people, they are ir-responsible, they blame white people, while it is THEY who have to make the initial effort. Also their attitudes at my school can use a good kick in the azz.

I hate that one standard, I can't remeber what its called, but Nergo American have an EASIER time getting into colleges because of their color. A bunch of students protested by demonstrating that principal by selling cookies.

Halley Berry is a very good actor (actress is archaic). She did superb in the James Bond movie. She has a great body too, along with the usual excellent acting and character portrayal.

Since they "complain" of people discriminating them, they should clean up their act.
For instance. My husband and I work for the same grocery store, working for the same guy, but we work in different towns. Where I work is in Toledo Bend, a fisherman place where polite mostly white fisherman, golfers, hunters and old folks come in to shop. These people are so nice and pilote I had an old lady I didn't know hug me right in the middle of the store she was so happy I helped her find something. But go to Zwolle, where my husband works at. It's like it's a whole nother wolrd, dank noisy atmoshpere. A black and mexican community. Little kids coming up taking bites out of apples and putting them back on the shelf (I seen it), people tearing the plastic on wrapped grapes to have a few freebies and the worst. I was there helping my husband work, our buddy, a guy who works for the Frito Lays company, was stocking chips he just about screamed, "Eewwww." We turned around just to see him pulling out by the fingertips, a used, wrapped up dirty diaper from the chips rack.

I understand all to well my friend, what else pisses me off is these people who disrespect every one and expect respect back, they need a good aditude adjustment, espiecaly the ones that think there part of a gang, there not gangs anymore, a gang is like the Italian mofia, there just a bunch of little fu&*ers that think they own the streets. I know, we all have annoying things.
