There is also no reason for predator to use the same length of a minute as humans. The human minute is defined by the rotation of the Earth, why would predators have a minute that is exactly the same?

But then again since they usually travel at speeds faster than light, they should live a whole lot longer because time slows down when traveling faster. Thats why we commonly think they live much longer; when in fact its because of their light speed transporation. That would be a good expirement, raise a pup on Earth and sees how long it lives under our time standards.

But after the second time i saw it, there predators looked cuter, i think they ruined the predator!!!! Compare Predator, Predator2 and now AVP i think you will notice the diffrents!!!

Yeah, the mandibles on the Pred in AVP are shorter and cover less of the mouth, unlike on Pred and Pred2.
Also the Pred on AVP has a full set of teeth, (perhaps they had better hygenie), than on Pred and Pred2.
What if Scar got left behind on Earth, it would make an interesting sequel would it not?

Prezes, I think that's generally called a mistake.
We don't know what the base rate of time is, but it doesn't make much sense at all comparing 10 minutes and 10/10/2004 - in this regard it's like several other parts of the movie that don't make sense.

after seeing it the day it came out (two times may i add). All i have to say is that it was better then i expected it to be.
yes i know this is late to be posting in here ohhh well.
still i like how they left the movie up for sequals. and how the aliens won two ways.
now before you predator loving fans start flaming me ill explain.
One, the queen isnt dead, if you think that some water is going to kill her you are stupider then most humans.
Two, that chest burster will have mostly free reign of the ship. since all those preddies are going to cryo sleep. most of them wont be waking up most likely.
stupid human girl. why couldnt she just freeze to death...

Ah C'mon man, where's the fun in that? That chick now needs to get abducted by Preds and become a hardcore killer like the rest.

if fox is going to steal ideas and not give credit to the author they should atleast have a good movie...
besides. the girl sucked. the story line sucked. so many errors.
it doesnt take 5 minutes for a chest burster to incubate. the hosts are also alive for a bit before they burst.
ahhhhh i could go on and on... however i wont.

I heard that the Preds used "enhanced" aliens that bred much more quickly in order to speed up the hunt. From what I heard, that bit was one of the things Fox forced Anderson to cut out, and should be in extended version DVD. I am not sure if that is that really the case or not, it is just what I heard.

I realise this topic is old, but my absence forces me to bring this subject back up.
What a disgrace, Paul WS Anderson, theres a Noose waiting in Hell for you. Enjoy eternity with it...
I am surprised at the numbers here who actually enjoyed it.

I went in there with high expectations, despite being directed by Paul WS Anderson of the dreaded Resident Evil Films *Pukes*.
What came out was a churned up filth, that stank of old cheese and cheap perfume. Well lets just say I was never so sickened by a film that I formed a shrine (Of hate) for the Director.
May he burn.

I enjoyed it because for the first time of the Predator and Alien movie fanchise they are finally together and duking it out.
The movie could have been longer. There was too many cut scenes and I just wanted to see more action between the three species. The look of the yautja technology was awesome. Someone somewhere said the ship looked more cold then muggy like in Predator 2 which I agree with. The mandibles for Scar was a bit odd looking, but I was really knocked off track by his skin texture, it looked to rubbery. And they could of had more scenes bewteen Scar and Lex.
Yeah, the two were fighting for their lives. But instead of their being cut scenes, scenes could have been added of the two walking down a dark and creepy hallway and running around corners etc. etc.
I liked on the DVD in the delted scenes they at least added the part from the book where Scar played around with Lex in scaring her.
I also didn't like the fact that the Yautja blood themselves.
Overall the movie is a great flic that I have added to my growing list of Aliens and Predator original VHSs, DVDs and remastered DVDs with the books, comics, cards and finally an awesomely detailed, hand painted Predator model from the movie Predator that my dad and step-mom painted together and gave me for my christmas present.

Another thing I didn't like was the scene where Scar killed a face hugger then an alien without even looking directly at it then with his mask off was jumped by a face hugger. And at the end before the queen is pulled off the edge manages to stick Scar with her tail, lift him up and look at him. She had a Combi Stick rammed through her head, I think she wouldn't of been coherent enough to do all that. Thrashing out, stumbling for him and hitting or slicing off something, yes, but not that.

That's probably your problem. The film was never going to be great. Even from the moment the executives at Fox decided to make a movie it was destined for mediocrity at best. I (and most people I talked to) went in expecting the movie to be utter garbage, and were pleasently suprised when it was pretty decent. Not great, mind you, but decent nonetheless. People, on the other hand, who had high expectations for the movie seem to have been pissed off when it wasn't as great as they expected. You have to have realistic expectations for a movie like that. Expecting a work of art is unrealistic and sets you up for a big letdown.

Actually, that part is kind of central to the entire story. The whole plot would have fallen apart without that part.

But I never had high expectations, as I said, I knew that Paul WS Anderson was directing it from the start. But he claimed to be a fan, so for a moment I felt calm, knowing that the coming together of our two favourite intergalactic beasts was going to be in the hands of someone who actually knew what was what.
Then the lights went down in the theatre...
The dreaded realisation came, didnt this man also claim to be a fan of the Resident Evil series? When it actually came to light after the dreadful reviews and turnout that he had only played Resident Evil 2, getting as far as the Licker entrance before passing out in a pool of his own urine soaked fear.
Turned out that the RE film was nothing more than a rehash of one of his older scripts, which in turn was a terrible hack of 'Alice in Wonderland'.
But the start was promising, lots of immediate homages to the other films, "Hey this guy does know what he is doing" I thought. I began to relax in the knowledge that I could ham down the plot and predictable characters.
But here folks are the exact moments I could literally feel Paul WS Anderson ejaculating his evil jism into the faces of many proud fans.
-The mindless killing of the drill team, I wouldnt have minded, if there was atleast some attempt at character development.
-When it is revealed that the token cannon fodder (No character development) are carrying high calibre weapons. Oooooo Look! Green shiny things!
-"What did you say this room was called" "Sacrificial chamber". Blam this crap!
-Bullet time, so original.
-How the Aliens were capable of gestating within a few minutes!
-More mindless bullet time killing.
-The flashback sequence.
-Scar is impregnated, yet fails to blow himself up with a wrist detonator.
-When Scar and Lex actually join sides, that was the first time I ever wanted to perform a frontal labatomy on a live human.
-The sudden change in pace.
-The great race: Snow sled Vs Nuclear explosion. Who will win?!
-Queen: "I'm not really dead"
-How on Earth did the Predators fail to notice a chest burster implanted inside Scars body?
By the way, the rubbery Predator face: How much did it look like Harry form Harry and the Hendersons?

Right, and what I'm saying is that is basically what I expected from the movie from the moment it was announced. Therefore, I was no dissapointed.
