Just been perusing the gallery on absoluteavp, and realised: the thumbnails are all replaced with some generic jpg icon. Is the php code missing for generating proper thumbs? Also, when someone mistkenly sends in a .bmp, why does it get posted up when it's obvious it doesn't show? I think it needs to be made clear that .jpg's only are submitted - at a reasonable view size - a good tidy up in the gallery wouldn't go amiss either.

Another thing: when we post up submitted newsies it says something like 'absolute hunter', 'absolute marine', etc - what about an 'absolute alien'? Why are the finest species of them all not up there, eh?

One last thing, stupid I know, is it possible to have a unique ranking for boss ppl? Like 'Queen Alien from Hell'

Gallery thumbs--its a server issue and has got nothing to do with our scripts--Prez is working on the issue with the datacenter people.

Just thought of another section for GameStory: a simple 'Miscellaneous' section, for other game-related stuff not covered by the main sections. I'm writing a short story based in the world of Morrowind which I am currently playing, and at the moment is unlikely to be posted up on GS as it doesn't really fit anywhere else. A 'Miscellaneous' section might bring in stuff from other writers that don't just do Aliens, Unreal, etc.

The 'free4all' is for game-related stories that are not covered by the specific categories. I'm doing a Morrowind fic, and there was nowhere on GS to post it up. I thought it might be a good way to encourage more writers to join up, that maybe have enthusiasm for different games. More options can sometimes mean more writers come in. Surely can't be a bad thing?
