The Covenant


This article is to tell you all about the covenant that you face in Halo.

Grunt- These little dog type creatures are the cannon fodder of the covenent. They normally take about 1-2 pistol shots. The spec ops. Grunts take about 3-5 pistol bullets. If you kill the elite and jackals that the grunts are with they will normally run from you. The minor and major rank grunts can carry anywhere from 0-3 plasma grenades. the orange (minor) grunts will almost never throw grenades, but occasionally they huck the odd plasma at you. The red (major) grunts still do not throw grenades a whole lot, but they throw them more than the orange ones. The spec ops grunts will through grenades any chance they get, and with there accuracy that can mean your death. Be careful around the spec ops grunts. They can use weapons, grenades, and anything that can provide cover. Elites- Elites are one of the two creatures that formed the covenant. The other one is the prophet, but you will not meet those in Halo. The elites are the battle field commanders. They command the grunts and jackals on the battlefield. They have cat like reflexes, so it is hard to nail them with a plasma grenade, let alone a fragmentation grenade. The elites have a shield just like you do, and just like your shield it will recharge over time. That means that you should not let a elite hide when it is damaged, cause it most likely is trying to find somewhere so it can recharge it's shield. There are blue elites which are the minor elites. Then there are the red elites which are veterans. They have been in wars and survived or have shown good leadership skills. Then there are the cloaked elites, they are nothing more than normal blue elites except cloaked and without a shield. There is also spec ops elites which are black in colour and very smart and strong. They have about the most accurate grenade throw out of any enemy in Halo. And last but not least are the gold elites. They are commanders, they have shown excellent skills and have survived many battles. They can jump real far and high. They normally carry with them, one badass plasma sword. It takes about three swipes from a plasma sword to kill when you have full health and shield. All in all the elites are one of the deadliest foes that you will encounter in Halo. Jackals- Jackal's are weird in the sense that they are not very strong but can take a major beating. The jackal's look like some weird lizard human thing. They are equipped with a hand held plasma shield and a plasma pistol. The plasma shield will take you about 600 bullets from the assault rifle to finally make the jackal not hold the shield for just a few seconds. It says in the instruction manual that jackal's have good hearing and smelling, but I have yet to see that take action. There are only two ranks for the jackal's. One is the blue shielded jackal's which take about one melee to kill. Then there are the orange ones which take around 2 melee's to kill. Hunter- Let me make this clear and simple for the, THE HUNTER'S ARE LIKE TANKS WITH LEGS!!!!!!! The reason for that is that they have almost there whole body covered in armor. You can take a whole assault rifle magazine (600 bullets) and about 60 pistol round to even start getting them to die. But there is a secret for killing them though... ***********SPOILER*************** The hunters have little orange patches of skin unprotected by there armor. If you shoot them there they should keel over. ***********END OF SPOILER********* The weapon that the hunters carry is called the fuel rod cannon. It is directly integrated into there armor. You cannot pick it up and use it as a weapon. It takes them about 3 seconds or so to charge it up so that they can shoot you with it. It's strength is equivelant to that of a rocket. The three things that are very effective against the hunters are Scorpion tanks, Banshees, and rocket launchers. The hunters have no rankings at all. They mostly are in pairs.
